Melbourne Museum Opening Hours

Melbourne Museum's trading hours are the same every day: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed only on Christmas Day and Good Friday.

That single schedule covers the permanent galleries, but a few parts of the museum run on their own timing on top of it, see the tabs below for the Children's Gallery's timed sessions and the monthly after-hours program.

When Things Are Open

The museum's permanent galleries — including Dinosaur Walk, the Forest Gallery, Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Phar Lap — are open every day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The museum closes only twice a year: Christmas Day and Good Friday.

IMAX Melbourne, on site beneath the museum, runs its own separate film schedule that changes by title — check IMAX's own listing for session times on the day you plan to visit.
